微軟推出新一代Windows 8 已有一段時間，早前就將上一代產品Windows 7 停售，但由於Windows 8反應不佳，微軟將Windows 7 的停售延期，重新推出Windows 7 讓兩代系統並存，微軟更在早前將Windows 7 的最後支援日期更改為無限期。
