蘋果的 Developer Beta 軟件是需要有付費的 Apple Developer 帳戶（每年 99 美元）才可下載。用戶更要登入 Developer 網站才可下載 iOS、iPadOS、macOS、watchOS、tvOS 等 Beta 所需的 Profile 檔，從而對裝置進行 Beta 軟件下載。
過去一段較長的日子，網上不少人也將 Profile 檔分享給別人，令他們沒有 Developer 帳戶下也可使用 Beta 軟件。
不過﹐網上最有知名度的 BetaProfiles.com 及 IPSW.dev 的網站今天相繼停止運作。

BetaProfiles.com 的網主在社交媒體平台上表示因不想與 Apple 有法律訴訟，所以決定關站。
其實，近年 Developer Beta 軟件跟 Public Beta 的軟件可說是接近時間推出推出，只是起步時慢一點，例如 Developer Beta 在 6 月推出，Public Beta 在 7 月推出，但當首個 Public Beta 推出後，其更新只是較 Developer Beta 慢一天甚至是同步。
