彩色顯示技術突破
Amazon 高層在發佈會上表示，開發 Colorsoft 並非僅是更換新螢幕那麼簡單。負責 Kindle 產品的 Kevin Keith 指出，過去技術尚未成熟，如今他們認為時機已到。Colorsoft 採用 E Ink 的 Kaleido 技術，並使用全新的顯示堆疊，包括重新設計的氧化物背板，使 E Ink 面板上的微小墨水顆粒能更快速移動。
新 LED pixel 提升色彩表現
Colorsoft 採用新型 LED Pixel，並以新方式單獨照亮每個像素以增強色彩。螢幕亮度也比以往更高，讓整體顯示效果更加生動。這些技術突破讓 Amazon 能在不犧牲翻頁速度、解像度或對比度的情況下導入彩色顯示。
色彩鮮明翻頁流暢
在簡短的實機展示中，Colorsoft 的顯示效果令人印象深刻。雖然不及 iPad 螢幕，但其銳利度和亮度足以讓漫畫內容生動呈現，且不會過於飽和。值得注意的是，當頁面出現彩色影像時，裝置會在每次翻頁時進行全螢幕刷新。然而，整體而言，翻頁速度快，影片開啟迅速，使用體驗與新款 Paperwhite 相當。
彩色螢幕優化界面
彩色螢幕最大優勢在於優化整體界面。它讓首頁和書庫瀏覽更加賞心悅目，書籍封面能以全彩呈現。鎖定螢幕也能展示更生動的待機畫面。此外，用戶現在可以使用多種顏色進行標注，並在手機 Kindle 應用程式中按顏色檢索。
